Thanks to Wil Wheaton for that title. He used it recently and gave credit to both Ice Cube and someone else I don’t know. But in a nutshell it describes my day, as it described all of theirs.

Here are the great moments of my day with the kids today. It was a normal Thursday – me home with the kids and Mike at work.

Addy got up at 7am and ate and pooped. We usually lay in bed together for a while after she poops (when her diaper is clean again) and just cuddle and smile and play. She’s so cute and smily in the morning. Then eventually I start to drift off and she starts to fuss, which is when I put her back in her swing and we both go back to sleep until Joshua wakes up. Well this morning the little cutie-pie fell asleep right next to me! She hasn’t done that since she was only a few weeks old. But I drifted off, and when I awoke I saw her sleeping right in my face. SO CUTE!!! I still moved her to her swing, as I knew my movements would wake her up if I left her there.

Next, Joshua didn’t get up ’til 11am!!! How nice is that??? So I slept that late too, and Addy woke up shortly after at 11:30am. He has been waking up a bit earlier in the morning than usual, and his naps have been shorter, but I thought he was just making a natural transition to less sleep. Well, I guess he was short because he made up for it today! And I think we all needed it.

Since we all got plenty of sleep, it was my goal to finally start looking at mattresses for Joshua and to go to Target. So we came down and ate “brunch” and Joshua got his poopie out (in 2 messy bouts!), but then as I was feeding Addy prior to leaving, she fell asleep on me so peacefully. I could tell she just wanted to go for a nice long nap, and I couldn’t hold her back from that. So I brought her upstairs. But, I knew I had to do something different with Joshua. It was sunny at 50-some degrees, so I brought the monitor outside along with some bubbles and a bat and ball. We played out there for a good couple of hours, then snacked outside, then Addy woke up. We had such a nice time outside! Joshua blew a million bubbles and I blew a million more. He didn’t quite get the hang of the bat and ball, so instead he would throw the ball and we’d both chase after it (I let him get it every time, of course). He got a big kick out of that. And he thought he was the coolest little boy to get to eat his snack outside in the big chair! I really had a nice time out there with him. Just how I imagined times with my little boy would be…

Now with Addy up that left me another round of diaper changes and another feeding for Addy before we could get out. We did those things and actually made it out the door around 3:30pm. Amazing!!! We looked at mattresses at a couple places (full size big boy bed for Joshua, so that Addy can move out of the Pack n Play and into a real crib), and I returned jeans at Target and picked up a few other items we needed. Joshua loved laying on all of the beds, especially because he was tired since it was approaching what would have been his naptime if he hadn’t woken up at 11am =) And, he loved eating the Whopper’s Robin’s Eggs in the car that Mommy let him have for being such a good boy during all of the shopping (Addy mostly slept during shopping, but is still too little for Robin’s Eggs).

When we got home at about 5:30pm, it would have been pretty easy to just go out to eat or make something easy, but I had ingredients for tacos, and more importantly, GUACAMOLE (the Grande Jake’s kind again…nom nom!) at home and I had been dying to make both. So I went for it! And let me tell you what, these tacos with my guac beat out any mexican restaurant meal I’ve ever had. SO GOOD!!!

After dinner it was straight to bathtime for Addy and bedtime for Joshua. Both went very smooth and by 8:15 Mike and I were left to the downstairs by ourselves. Now, at 10:45, I’m chatting on Facebook and blogging (obviously), and Mike is napping on the other couch with a Barrett Jackson auto auction on TV (obviously).

Yep, today was a good day.

Mike and I did a drive-through at Oberweiss the other day. I ordered our two chocolate milkshakes as Addy was SCREAMING in the back seat. After ordering and paying, the girl at the window asked if I’d like a sample of their vanilla milk. I said, “Sure, why not?!” I mean, it is something for free, right? So she disappears from the window, for more than just a couple of minutes. At about minute three, Mike says, “What….are they killing the cow in there?” (As if cows need to be slaughtered to provide the milk…lol…)

And for those wondering, we never did get our vanilla milk free sample. She returned to the window with our five dollar chocolate shakes at about minute six. It took me less time than that to suck it down =)
